My mother would dress my twin sister and myself in identical clothing....
over and over and over again.
Lost during my childhood, spilling into adulthood...where had my identity gone?

My father was an alcoholic. I watched my mother struggle with love, relationships, being a provider, loss of dignity, a silent voice. Alcoholism, aggression, poverty, fear, shame, the screams, the survival of a mother, twin sister and myself.
Finally the 80's came; calm.
Calm brought about sameness.
Don't rock the boat.
Be like your sister.
Make sure you look 'perfect' all the time.

The day I became an adult, I said 'goodbye'.
